The Big 4 of thrash metal aren't done yet. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax recently announced that the package will be doing one and only one show in the US, titled the Big Four Festival in California but that doesn't mean they are done. Today, Metallica announced that the 4 bands have been locked in to Sonisphere Germany, hinting at more shows as well. Here it is directly from the horse's mouth:
"If you've been following along, you know that the 'Big Four' of Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and 'tallica [Note from Ed: ABSOLUTELY the dumbest use of an apostrophe ever. Is it that hard to write Metallica?] already have two shows scheduled in Europe in July… well, the party is expanding! We're here today to tell you about and addition to the European vacation with a show in Gelsenkirchen, Germany at the Veltins Arena on July 2, 2011.
"Tickets go on sale on Saturday, February 19 at 9:00 a.m. local time at Eventim.de. MetClub members should check MetClub.com for more details on a special pre-sale for Clubbers only.
"Yes, that headline said 'shows' with an 's.' Keep watching here for a couple more announcements in the coming weeks."
Americans, don't even bother getting your hopes up. This just means they will play a few other European festivals around that week. It's safe to say the one show they are playing in Cali will be the only US show, especially since Megadeth is locked in Mayhem Fest all summer. On that note, Dave Mustaine was recently interviewed about the Big 4 coming to the US and why it's only one show and here is his advice to people in the US who don't live in California that want to see the show:
Why is there only one Big Four US show confirmed?
That, I don't know. But I do know this — and it's not me speaking on behalf of any of the Big Four collectively or individually — it started off as one date before, and then it ended up being several. So I would say for people that pray, do so. For people that don't, sart.
There you have it people. It's out of the Big 4 hands. It's all in God's hands now. So pray for Slayer to come to your town! Makes sense to me.
