European gamers can rest assured that they too will be able to play Harmonix Music Systems' fittingly named rock band simulator Rock Band–but they'll have to wait until next year. Harmonix, owner MTV Games, and publisher Electronic Arts today announced the game will hit PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and newly-announced target system PlayStation 2 in Europe in "early 2008."

The announcement reiterated the official holiday 2007 date for PS3 and Xbox 360 in North America; no mention of the PS2 version was made for the region. Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos has stated outright that Rock Band will arrive on Wii as well, though no official announcement has been made.

European releases will feature additional included and downloadable content specific to their local territories. No such tracks were specifically named.
