Watch DOWN Sludge It Up In Dallas

This one is a heater, folks!

Back in May, riff-lords Down swung through Dallas and set up shop at the best little roadhouse in Texas, Amplified Live. Fortunately for us, Metal Dave Media was there to capture the entire set in this excellent, pro-shot video. You can check out the video above. The entire 13-song setlist can be found below.

  1. "Lysergik Funeral Procession"
  2. "Hail the Leaf"
  3. "Lifer"
  4. "Witchtripper"
  5. "The Seed"
  6. "Ghosts Along the Mississippi"
  7. "Rehab"
  8. "Losing All"
  9. "Pillars of Eternity"
  10. "Swan Song"
  11. "Eyes of the South"
  12. "Stone the Crow"
  13. "Bury Me in Smoke"

If this set doesn't make you thirsty for some new Down music, than I don't know what else will. As for that becoming a reality, guitarist Kirk Windstein had this to say just days before the gig in Dallas:

"What's been happening is Down is kind of now as it started, which was a side project… We love doing it and it's a ton of fun and we love it—we love the band, it's an amazing band—but everybody's back to doing their other bands. Pepper's [Keenan, guitar] doing C.O.C. full-time, Jimmy's [Bower, drums] doing Eyehategod, I'm doing Crowbar, Phil's [Anselmo, vocals] got a lot on his hands and a lot of projects, as he always did and always will." (One of which we now know is the Pantera reunion.)

Down's last release of new music were a pair of EPs in 2014—Down IV: The Purple EP and Down IV: Part II, that ranks among some of the metal supergroup's best work. As for the long-in-the-works covers EP, Windstein says, "We really haven't, to my knowledge, agreed upon the songs a hundred percent yet. Right now we're more concerned with just being properly rehearsed for the shows that we have coming up… So we're kind of concentrating on that, and maybe after that we'll see where we're at with the cover-song EP."
