Canadian black metallers Panzerfaust have released a fantastic new video for their single "The Men of No Man's Land," which gives a fictitious account of the horrors experienced by the Canadian military during the Western Front battles in France and Belgium during World War I between 1914 and 1919.
According to Wikipedia, the Western Front (mainly Flanders Field in Belgium) saw some of the greatest loss of life during the First World War, with over 1 million people losing their lives. For context, these are the battles, particularly the Battle of the Sonne, that plague Thomas Shelby (actor Cillian Murphy) in BBC / Netflix Original Peaky Blinders.
The term "no man's land" is most commonly attributed to describe an area between the trench lines of WWI, i.e. a fucking awful place to be. Not only did people die digging tunnels, but chemical warfare was also introduced with a devastating effect.
"100 years since the guns fell silent across the Western Front," says guitarist / vocalist Brock "Kaizer" Van Dijk. "‘The Men of No Man’s Land’ revisits the horrors of trench warfare, whereby war would be changed forever.”
