Johnny DeAngelis of Oni is a xylosynth player, and probably the first dedicated one in all of metal. His playthrough of the band's track "Barnburner" initially confused the hell out of me because I was listening for xylophone noises, but nope! Dude's shredding away a nasally, oscillating synth sound with his sticks of immense speed.
Strange? Yes. Awesome to watch? Also yes, but you can hear DeAngelis do his thing on the band's upcoming Ironshore album due out November 25. Catch the band on tour:
