KATATONIA's Video For "Shifts" Is Quite Sad

Goddammit, Katatonia.

Katatonia's new album Fall Of Hearts is probably one of the best things to come out this year, and I'm sure at least once throughout your listen, you felt a slight twinge of sadness come creeping into your mind. Which is fine, because now you're about to get a whole ton of sad dumped on you with the video for "Shifts."

Here's what guitarist Anders Nyström had to say.

“As the music for this song unfolded it took off in a different direction from usually what we do. Driven by its gentle, lush and shimmering rendition of melancholy it would take you for a waltz daydreaming of the past, longing for the happiest times of your life, only to find that when the dance is over, emptiness has filled another chamber of your heart. Both Jonas and Lasse enhanced these ideas into beautifully told lyrics and a simple, but very touching video.”

"Lasse" being frequent Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson collaborator Lasse Hoile, who directed this video.
