Seeing a Metallica show from 1992 is by itself interesting enough, but this is one from late 1992 with a post-pyrotechnics accident James Hetfield. The show was filmed at Oakland Stadium in Oakland, CA on September 24, about one month after Hetfield was burnt on stage by pyrotechnics during the band's tour with Guns N' Roses. That's ex-Metal Church guitarist John Marshall filling in for Hetfield, who played that role for four weeks while Hetfield recovered.
Here's what YouTuber and uploader fromthenosebleeds had to say about the show.
3rd time playing Oakland Stadium. 2nd time Headlining.
My only regret on this capture is too much screen shot. When looking at those video screens in the venues you get to thinking…if i film the screen will it look good? Answer – NOPE. Found out a few times over the years in filming these outdoor gigs. Never looks good.
This was a very special show with James channeling his inner Danzig as a front man vocalist with no guitar.
