Veil of Maya recently parted ways with their vocalist of seven years, Brandon Butler. That left fans wondering what would become of the group's fabled new record. The band released the track "Subject Zero" a little over a year ago and their last full length was Eclipse in 2012. Could the loss of a vocalist be the final nail the coffin?
Nope. Everyone seems to think it's Luke Magyar of Arms of Empire and they're probably right. Now the group is finishing up their new record and they've revealed the vocals are being produced by Periphery vocalist Spencer Sotelo! Sotelo has made it very, very clear he's not singing on the record, just producing.
Unfortunately we don't have an estimated release date for the record just yet, but guitarist Marc Okubo has been saying some really entertaining stuff about it on his Twitter.
Our new stuff kinda sounds like when you hit a home run in 3rd grade and your dad takes off work to see it happen

The vocals on the new veil album are almost done. I don't know what to do with myself

I really expected people to care a lot more about how our vocals sounded but everyone's more concerned with my guitar tuning. — marc okubo (@marceatsfood) November 7, 2014
I'm ready to start on another new album. This time it won't take 3 years. I'm determined.

So we've gone from three year wait to maybe one? I'm down.
