METALLICA To Drop "Lords Of Summer" Vinyl On Black Friday

Metallica is releasing something! Kinda. Again.

Metallica is releasing something! Kinda. Again.

In the time between 2008's Death Magnetic and whenever they release their new album, which is rumored to drop in the spring of 2046, Metallica has been releasing things like live box sets, unreleased movie footage and even a rough version of a new song titled "Lords of Summer." Here's a quick refresher of the song in the event you've forgotten all nine thrash-filled minutes of it.

The song has been available since March on iTunes and the band has played it countless times in their touring ventures. Now they'll be releasing the track as a 12" on the upcoming Record Store Day Black Friday, which will take place on November 28.

The vinyl will consist of the studio demo version of the track, as well as a live version of the track recorded at the Rock In Rome Sonisphere Festival that took place on July 1 of this year. The b-side of the record will be an etching of the band's "M" logo. I strongly encourage you to try to play the logo on your record player as well. Who knows, maybe they've hidden the whole new album in there and the first person that finds it will get to name the new record! Purely speculation of course.
