The new Megadeth record sounds really confusing at this point, and that's not me jumping to conclusions. On one hand, its got Lamb of God's Chris Adler on drums, who apparently did such a damn good job Dave Mustaine wants to keep him. That and the fact that Mustaine and bassist Dave Ellefson keep saying the record is going to be heavy makes me think it's going to be heavy, right?
So it's odd, and super intriguing, that country musician Steve Wariner recently told The Tennessean that he's contributing slide guitar to the record.
"Worlds collide," Wariner quipped. "It's funny. Imagine Megadeth with steel guitar. That's what I did, and Dave Mustaine is the nicest guy in the world. Isn't that crazy? It's out of my world. You know me, I'm a traditional country guy. But the stuff I played on is awesome."
Who knows what context that'll be in! It's not like Megadeth hasn't had some country licks in its music before. "High Speed Dirt," anyone? Skip to about 3:20 to get fairly twangy!
