Danny Carey giveth, Maynard James Keenan taketh away.
Last week, while Carey was at the NAMM convention in Anaheim, a fan asked when Tool planned to release their long-anticipated new album. Carey tells a fan that Tool is shooting to release their new album in mid-April, and adds that "that's the plan, anyway." Looks like the plan changed!
Last night, a fan on Twitter asked frontman Maynard James Keenan if the rumors were true about the new album dropping in April.
Maynard succinctly responded "No."
So even though some visual teasers have begun popping up, the release is still not officially on the schedule for April.
Gabriel Shaffer, a friend of the band, took to Instagram last week to say that he's heard the album in full. That would indicate that the band has to be either pretty damn close to being completely done, or they've moved on to mastering and figuring out the marketing of the whole thing.
Vocalist Maynard James Keenan confirmed he finished tracking vocals months ago. Tool have been announced as headliners for a few festivals. Namely Chicago Open Air, Epicenter and Welcome To Rockville so far. Oh, and a European tour.
