Tool have been taking their sweet time recording the follow up to 2006's 10,000 Days, entering the studio in March, and only completing drum tracking about a month ago.
We've waited with baited breath for the new album, and even Maynard is begging the band to finish up. Tool have been teasing fans, playing a snippet of a new song, "Descending," at live shows. It seems like the band are finally working towards some sort of timeline, because for the first time ever, MAYNARD has given a time frame for when fans can expect a release.
Speaking from the stage at last night at Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods Awards, Maynard, who recieved the prestigious Icon award, noted the album is looking like it's coming out next year:
“Thank you very much, appreciate it. Wouldn’t be here without you guys, so thank you very much for all of that. A lot of work’s being done, a lot of work’s been done. I’ll go on record now and say – you’re gonna see some new music next year.”
We've heard Danny Carey make false promises before, we think this one will really stick.
Are you finally ready for new Tool?
