So what do we know about the forthcoming Mastodon album? It will be the follow-up to 2014's Once More 'Round the Sun, and likely out in 2017, continuing the band's three year album cycles.
Mastodon has no shortage of new material for its upcoming album, which appears to include its currently-unreleased 2014 EP. Brent Hinds has said that the band is considering releasing a double album with one of the albums being called Cold Dark Place, written exclusively by Hinds. The second album would be written by the rest of the band. Drummer Brann Dailor said in a recent interview that he'd "like to get a little more proggy, and have a little more space and play around with dynamics a little bit more."
Well, it looks like the band has figured shit out, because according to a new interview with Mike James Rock Show, guitarist Bill Kelliher reveals the band hope to enter the studio in October/November to begin recording and offered this take:
“With the eleven songs that we’ve recorded so far it’s mostly been Brann [Dailor] and myself, I mean he lives down from the street from me, we grew up together and we wrote together.”
I've really enjoyed Mastodon's evolution over the years and am looking forward to what they have in store for us.
Are you still on the Mastodon bandwagon?
