We already know Mastodon is writing a new album but I guess somebody at their label is getting impatient, and I don't know, maybe feels people would somehow forget about the band? That's why the band will be releasing a live album titled Live at The Aragon, (taped at Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom in '09), due March 15th.
MetalSucks just confirmed the news that it will be a "12-song CD/78 minute DVD set, featuring Crack The Skye in its entirety, plus performances of songs from Blood Mountain and Leviathan" and for an added bonus, a cover of The Melvins' track "The Bit." While I love the band, and look forward to any material they put out, after seeing the band multiple times on the Crack The Skye album, I don't know how excited I can be for a live album worth of tunes, because the band simply can't pull off the vocals live. Maybe there will be some studio trickery to fix it, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
