Lamb Of God put out their covers album XX: Legion under their original name Burn The Priest in May 2018 and spent a lot of time on the road touring in support of Slayer that same year. Lamb Of God will soon hit the road to do the same once more this May, but according to guitarist Mark Morton, they've been spending a lot of their downtime writing a new (non-covers) record.
In an interview with Metal Insider, Morton says the band is pretty far along in the writing process. He doesn't know if the record will be out this year or not year.
"We're well into the writing process. We're not completed writing, but we're pretty far along into the writing process. We've been making demos and what we call pre-production for the new album. So I don't have a [release] date [for the album]. I don't know if it'll be the end of this year or sometime early next year, but it's in full swing. There's good progress."
In the meantime, Lamb Of God will release an anniversary version of Ashes Of The Wake with a few demos and a b-side called "Another Nail For Your Coffin". That reissue is coming on May 3.
