KORN Frontman Says His New Solo Album Will Be Out In May, Talks About Potential Covers Album

Korn's doing the covers album.

Korn's doing the covers album.

Korn frontman Jonathan Davis is a pretty busy guy these days. Davis is supposedly in the studio with Korn working on a new album right now, but he's also gearing up to do a solo tour in support of his coming solo album. While there's still no title for the solo album, Davis tells 2 Hours With Matt Pinfield he's releasing the effort via Sumerian Records of May 25.

He adds the album has been in the works for years after failed record deals and generally busy schedules with Korn, and adds that bassist Miles Mosley (Kamasi Washington, etc.) and Korn drummer Ray Luzier are in on it. Davis says he's been working on the album for 10 years, and was supposed to release it at one point but a failed record deal kept the whole thing from happening.

Oh, and he might do a covers album with Korn, which would feature songs like The Charlie Daniels Band's "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" and Billy Squier's "The Stroke."

“We got some good ones. We’ll probably do… We’re still picking ones—it’s been a work in progress for a long time. But whenever we get a little free time, we go ahead and do a couple songs. One day it’ll see the light of day.”

So yeah, busy in 2018.
