In the last twenty years, recording as come a long way in metal by the means of recording. Every metal release from the 80's to mid-90's sounded like absolute garbage for the most part.
So it is really no surprise to learn that seminal death metal act Exhumed have re-recorded their 1998 debut album Gore Metal, and will re-release the album this February once again via Relapse Records.
Retitled Gore Metal: A Necrospective 1998 – 2015, the press release asserts that the album "maintains the maniacal ferocity of the original recordings while adding depth to the sonic devourment thanks in no small part to years of touring and a vastly improved-sounding recording quality. "
The album, which will be released on February 10, 2015, comes with completely sick new artwork (which you can fancy above) and will be packaged with the original version of the album as well.
Comments vocalist/guitarist Matt Harvey:
"I'm super pumped that we got the chance to re-record Gore Metal. I don't think any of us were happy with how it turned out the first time around, so getting another shot at it meant a lot to me personally. I was also really excited to have our old friend Ross Sewage reprise his vocals on the new version, ensuring that it still sounds like that era of EXHUMED, though things are a lot more audible this time around!"
As a precursor to the release, Exhumed will hit the road in early 2015 for a North American tour with Napalm Death, Voivod, and more. You can get those dates here.
