Corey Taylor To Release Comic Book

A growing trend in the music industry is for musicians to create comic books as a way to supplement their music and/or their income. Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria has made a living off this by illustrating the story line behind his band's albums. Other notable musicians who have dabbled in the comic book world include Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and Gerard Way, front man for My Chemical Romance

It's a great idea and one that has been successful for many people who have attempted it. Now there seems to be another challenger ready to throw his hat (or mask) into the ring. Corey Taylor the vocalist for Stone Sour and Slipknot has just recently announced that he will be created a coming book series in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.

The comic book will be debuting in April 2013 and will be a visual representation of the short story of two upcoming Stone Sour albums. The first, House of Gold & Bones Part 1, arrives Oct. 22, and Part 2 hits shelves next summer. In regards to the comic book, Taylor states, "It's something I've always wanted to do."

Taylor goes on to explain the story line of the comic saying, "(the comic is) set in this crazy world where nothing's really what it seems, but at the center of it is really a concept about life and evolution and changes."

The comic revolves around a human who has to figure out how the rest of his life is going to pan out. Taylor continues stating, "I wanted people to be able to put themselves in his shoes and be able to relate to it right away. The Human basically spends most of his time confused or scared or lashing out in a lot of ways."

In regards to how the comic and the albums will relate, Corey Taylor says, "The songs and the lyrics are essentially the internal dialogue that's going on with these characters. Maybe it's not telling a story that's in the story itself, but it's giving a little insight into what that character's thinking."

The comic is still a good six months away so not much more information is currently available but as information is made public, we will bring you all the latest details leading up to its release.
