It's not exactly clear what's happening, but Code Orange is definitely up to something this week. The band just released an MTV-styled teaser on Instagram alongside the phone number (412) 207-3997 for fans to text. The "commercial" on Instagram features the following narration, as transcribed by Metal Injection.
"Hello mudheads around the world. We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming with some breaking news we just received. Code Orange have just released a mysterious phone number. In addition to this news, we have received this video. Inside sources are telling us that it is imperative all viewers send a text message to this number, as 'the games will begin in 2 days.'
"We here at MudTV are not sure at this time what this news means, but we strongly recommend all viewers stay safe and follow these instructions. Stay tuned into MudTV as we receive updates about this strange situation."
Seeing as Code Orange releases a new album every three years, and their last release was Underneath in 2020, it seems pretty safe to assume that there's a new record coming.
Oh, and texting the number takes you to a contact signup sheet after texting you "tired of living a life in the box? welcome home. sign up now and don't look back." We're not sure what it means either.
