Clutch drummer Jean-Paul Gaster recently said the band has been writing new material, but is finding it difficult that they can't try the songs out live. Still, Gaster said the band will try to record something despite the new dynamic. Now in an interview with WSOU, guitarist Tim Sult said the band probably won't record a new album until fall 2021.
"I don't think we're going to be able to get into the studio this winter, unfortunately. It's probably gonna be next year. He may have meant next winter. Our plans can change from day to day. But, yeah, I don't think that's gonna happen, unfortunately. Next winter is more realistic — probably next fall, actually."
Clutch has been keeping plenty busy despite these difficulties. The band recently released their new compilation of re-recordings and covers Weathermaker Vault Series, Vol. 1, and will play their livestream event Live From the Doom Saloon Vol. 3 on December 18.
