If you watched the latest edition of The FiX, our music video show, you know that Frank was surprised during his stay at Backroom Studios by a visit from The Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman. Ben was in a talkative mood, and let some very interesting details loose regarding two projects we're very excited about here at Metal Injection: the new Dillinger Escape Plan record and his upcoming collaboration with Brent Hinds of Mastodon and Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction. If you're at work and can't watch the FiX, here's what Ben had to say:
On when Giraffe Tongue Orchestra (who recently were in the studio recording) will be finishing up their record:
"We're pretty much half done. Brent from Mastodon is going on tour in November/December. I'll be in the studio with Dillinger in November/December. Eric Avery will be finishing up touring with Garbage in December. So I think that probably January/February we're going to finish up."
On the new album from The Dillinger Escape Plan:
"We're looking around April for a new release. I've been working on pre-production and demoing stuff everyday. We're going in starting November 5th (today!) to start the new record. A lot of migraines trying to figure this out"
So as you're reading this, the band is in the studio, getting their tones right, making sure their drum heads are fresh and new so they can create tunes that rip you a new asshole for years to come. 2013 is shaping to be an exciting year for new music. Ben isn't the only member of Dillinger collaborating with a member of Mastodon. It was recently revealed that the 'don's bassist, Troy Sanders is working with Dillinger vocalist Greg Puciato and Max FN Cavalera.
