ANTHRAX Drummer Says Next Album Will Be "A Little More Extreme"

Anthrax has slowly but surely been amassing new material for their follow-up to 2016's For All Kings, and now we've got a little insight on what it'll sound like. According to drummer Charlie Benante in an interview with Heavy, the new record will be "a little more extreme, a little more angry in places," but still a "really good blend of anger and happy." Benante adds that nothing has been recorded for the record and he's thinking it'll start to take shape in 2019.

"There's been a lot of good ideas, but nothing has been recorded yet. I mean, I've done demos — I just have my demos — but next year is when it's probably all gonna start to take shape."

"I know this next record is definitely gonna be a little more extreme, a little more angry in places, because I just think that's where I am at this point in the world. Right now I'm very angry with a couple of things that have happened; I'm also very happy. So I think it's gonna be a really good blend of anger and happy."

Worship Music and For All Kings were pretty furious, so it'll be interesting to see what exactly Benante is classifying as "more extreme" in this case. Anthrax recently released their new live album Kings Among Scotland, which shreds hard.
