This June, Brooklyn, New York's Sannhet will be embarking on a brief West Coast tour with fellow Flenser Records label-mates King Woman and Planning For Burial. Sannhet are touring to support the release of their latest record Revisionist, a stunning work of expansive, instrumental post-metal that's garnered praise from all corners of the music press, including here at Metal Injection. Even if instrumental metal isn't your thing (I'm not a huge fan myself) you should still get to one of the dates because Sannhet are excellent examples of the subgenre. Their never lapses into rote repetition and their live performances are even more awe-inspiring than their recorded material.
If this Sannhet still doesn't sound like your cup of tea, consider that King Woman is also playing and the band just released what will probably end up being one of the best heavy music releases of the year with their EP Doubt. King Woman doesn't fit nicely into any genre. The best way to think about the band if you've never heard the music is a doom metal version of Mazzy Star that sings about religious abuse and metaphysics. New Jersey's Planning For Burial is also along for the ride and this one man heavy shoegaze project is worth watching just to see him single-handedly create entire songs with a guitar and array of effects pedals. There are only six dates on the tour so get your ass to whichever show is closest to you.
