Metallica have announced the third annual All Within My Hands benefit concert, taking place on December 16, 2022, in Los Angeles. All Within My Hands (AWMH) is the nonprofit organization founded by Metallica in 2017 "dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services."
In a statement, the band wrote, "We're excited to announce the date of our third Helping Hands Concert & Auction as we invite you to join us in Los Angeles on December 16, 2022, for a very special show benefiting All Within My Hands. It has been a few years since we connected in person for this unique event, so we want to get on your calendar now! We're excited to share all the amazing things the Foundation has accomplished and we are inspired to look toward the future. Of course, we'll cap it all off with a full night of live music! We hope you will join us for the celebration; keep watching this site and our socials for more details coming soon."
In 2018, Metallica performed an acoustic set as part of the first "Helping Hands" benefit concert. A performance of "Disposable Heroes" from that set can be found below. Meanwhile, Metallica are set to perform at this year's Global Citizen Festival on September 24 in Central Park in New York City.
Just recently, guitarist Kirk Hammett commented that Metallica's album release schedule is "not getting any quicker," very much leaving in limbo the question of when fans can expect the follow up to 2016's Hardwired… To Self-Destruct. "We have a process that unfortunately takes a long time," Hammett told Goldmine. "It's just the way we work, the way it is, the way it works as a band. And I've grown to accept that."
