Every year my hippie indie friends try to convince me to make the trip out to Middle-of-Nowhere, Tennessee (aka Manchester, TN) to go lay in the grass for four days and listen to some sweet jams at the Bonnaroo festival. While I definitely understand the appeal of a four day escape, where every imaginable type of music is being played at every moment of the day, it just never clicked with me… that is until they announced this year's lineup. There is a fuckload of awesome bands on it. Metalheads would enjoy Opeth, Kylesa, The Sword, and Primus. There is also a hefty amount of really good non-metal on the bill to keep everybody entertained. Heck, I can say that I am honestly considering a journey to Tennessee now.
