KILLSWITCH ENGAGE Vocalist's Throat Bleeds After Intense Recording Sessions

On the plus side, the album is done?

On the plus side, the album is done?

So Killswitch Engage have been putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated new album, and Jesse Leach left it all on the table. So much so that he started noticing a little blood coming out of his throat, as well as some discoloration. This wasn't the first time he noticed a bit of blood either, as towards of the end of their summer tour, he had some discomfort as well.

Leach finally ended up going to a top of the line throat doctor for singers and was diagnosed with strep throat. He recently revealed as much in an Instagram post:

“Well now that is over with and I am sighing for relief, here is one of the issues. This is my throat (top) and vocal folds (bottom…yes it looks like something else, we all see it). I have had a bit of blood come out of my mouth on the last tour, that freaked me out. Also as of yesterday I felt physically off and my throat was feeling irritated. I looked in the mirror with a light and saw the white splotches and kind of freaked. Mind you I am aware white splotches usually mean an infection, but I can not help thinking the worse when it comes to my voice (as it is super important to my life)! So it contributed to an already mentally and physically off day yesterday! Turns out is is strep throat with some swollen folds. Im on the appropriate medications and will only have a one day set back for recording! Very thankful for my doctor who is the man! #DrScottKessler this guy has been my doctor for over a decade and has saved me many times from potential damage and sickness! Feeling a great deal better knowing what’s going on! I’m not sorry for sharing these gross photos ha ha! Peace everyone, keep on the grind! #kserecordingsessions #VocalFolds #Throat #Gross #VocalVagina #ISaidIt #SickMan #IKeepsItReal”

Leech also posted the below photo describing the doctor he went to:

As you walk in Dr Kessler's office dead center first row he's got some @killswitchengage love sandwiched around #JohnStewart #DavidHasslefoff #OzzyOsbourne #JuliaRoberts and #Haim. Don't I feel all special! It's amazing to talk to Dr Kessler when I go see him as he is doctor to many very amazing voices and talents including Broadway and Opera. He actually travels and takes care of the likes of #MariahCarey and does house calls all over the US. He is always calm, caring and reassuring. I actually have his cell number and can call him from wherever I am in the world and he takes care of me, yeah crazy right?! I get such a kick out of him when he says sorry every time he has to inject me with something, today it was a decongestant and a steroid. Very thankful to have this guy at my back, he is a miracle worker and a man who knows what he is talking about … AND he gives me discounts because I don't have my health insurance in order yet (which I will soon) because damn this is so not cheap! Now I am headed home to try to rest while hopped up on an inordinate amount of Prednisone. ack! Feels like I drank 10 coffees! #VocalistLife #BehindTheScenes #MyTeam #AllStarDoctor #kserecordingsessions #killswitchengage #jesseleach

Luckily, the damage is not permanent and Leach will be back up and rocking in no time.
