DAVID LEE ROTH Passed on Opening MOTLEY CRUE Tour – “I Don’t Open for Bands That I Influenced”

Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth is nothing if not honest. A new revelation from Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx reveals that Roth was almost slotted in the big Crue reunion tour that's been pushed back to 2022 with Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett. Except, Roth passed on it in typical Roth fashion.

During an interview with The L.A. Times says that Sixx says that Roth turned the gig down because “I don’t open for bands that I influenced.”

It's not known where in the lineup Roth would be placed, but I can see if the idea was for him to take the slot that Joan Jett is positioned in, I respect that he turned down what must've been insane money because he feels he heavily influenced the three bands that followed him, which he absolutely did.

But when you look at some of the competition, it might've been a great night out for Diamond Dave.

Mötley Crüe is slated to begin their stadium tour with Def LeppardPoison, and Joan Jett And The Blackhearts in June 2022.
