Dave Mustaine Says Chris Adler Has "Nothing To Do" With MEGADETH Anymore
In June, we reported that Megadeth's Dave Mustaine wanted Lamb of God's Chris Adler to become Megadeth's permanent drummer. Adler never really seemed to keen on the idea, and was gradually phased out with other drummers on tour when he couldn't make it, the most recent of which is Soilwork's Dirk Verbeuren.
Megadeth also announced recently that it was going to be deciding on a permanent drummer soon, though I think with the comments Mustaine made in an interview with Machine Music, we can safely assume Adler is not going to be joining Megadeth.
"If you’re in the presence of greatness, it’s shameful not to allow that to be great. But let me back up though: Chris Adler is not in Megadeth, he’s in Lamb of God. He was a session guy, he was what you could call work for hire. And he has nothing to do with us anymore, and he is with his band. I am very grateful for his contributions, I’m grateful for him introducing us to Dirk. We still haven't announced who our new drummer is going to be, it won’t be Chris Adler, because he’s in Lamb of God."
So it's not Adler, leaving I assume Dirk and Tony Laureano, who has filled in with bands like Dimmu Borgir and 1349 in the past, in the running.
Oh, and Dave also mentions in the interview that "there are a couple of websites in particular that would go under if it wasn’t for me, because they survive off of posting every breath I take." Hi Dave! It's called topical news, and you're a hot topic in the metal world… so y'know, that's how news works.
