THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From IHSAHN, MOTÖRHEAD, and More Out Today – 10/22

I went out and got my hipster on Sunday at the Treasure Island Festival. I have not shame in this. However, in the process I checked out this band called IO Echo. On the little recorded material of their I've heard they sound like echo filled sad pop that's in vouge at the moment, but live are pop doom and it's amazing. Great vocals, heavy guitar and that beepy-boopy stuff they're more known for. If they come near you give them a shot.

To the metals…

Eden's Curse – Symphony Of Sin Edens Curse- SoS 2013 coverart

Genre: Power Metal
Origin: "Eden" (United Kingdom)
Label: AFM

Before I say anything about this album, I just want to complain that they didn't simply call this "Sinphony." Symphony of Sin is so close already. Anyway, these guys play power metal that borders on hair metal. I'm sure there are other bands they sound closer to, but I only hear Europe.

Ihsahn – Das Seelenbrechen Ihsahn-Das-Seelenbrechen

Genre: Progressive Metal
Origin: Notodden, Norway
Label: Candlelight

Last time we heard an album from Emperor's former frontman, he seemed like he was in a much more pessimistic, yet jazzier place. This round he's been digging some of Opeth's more melodic tunes, or rather it sounds that way. It's rarely "blackened," but it's still worth checking out if you dig his work, or prog in general.

Meek Is Murder – Everything Is Awesome Nothing Matters artworks-000060409423-j1oyy7-t500x500

Genre: Brooklyn whatevercore
Origin: Brooklyn, New York
Label: Threshold of Pain

This record feature our own Frank Godla, but that's not why I'm including it this week. The band is like nothing I've heard. Part Fall of Troy, part Dillinger Escape Plan, part fun party band.

Motörhead – Aftershock MOTÖRHEAD

Genre: Rock n Roll
Origin: London, England
Label: UDR

Shut the fuck up, and listen to Motörhead! You know what you're getting, and you know it's great.
