DECAPITATED Involved In Serious Van Accident, Says "We Were Lucky This Time"

Thanfully, the band are okay and have already resumed touring.

Thanfully, the band are okay and have already resumed touring.

Decapitated have had yet another serious accident, this time involving their tour van. The accident occured occurred in New Orleans this past Friday, October 24, on the way to their show with GWAR and American Sharks.

The Polish death gods smashed the shit out of their van pretty good, sending two people to the hospital, but everyone seems to be okay. The band hauled ass and made it in time for their performance at the Housecore Horror Film Festival this weekend.

Friday's accident marks the second serious accident the band has had in less than 10 years. I had just seen Decapitated play at the first Summer Slaughter in Ft. Worth, Texas, right before the band's tragic 2007 tour bus accident, which claimed the life of 23-year-old drummer Witold "Vitek" Kieltyka and traumatically injured the band's second vocalist Adrian "Covan" Kowanek.

While Covan is no longer in his medically-induced coma and has made vast improvements, he still requires 24-hour care after suffering cardiac arrest and diffuse cerebral hypoxia, which results when your brain doesn't get any oxygen.

Decapitated has since put out two devastating new albums, 2011's Carnival Is Forever and 2014's Blood Mantra. You can read our review of their latest here.
