Just yesterday we told you that Mastodon is hunkering down to start writing new material for potential release next year.
Well, it looks like we won't be waiting too long. The band just posted the following status update:
The status refers to Monsters University, the prequel to the Disney/Pixar movie Monsters Inc. scheduled for release on June 21, 2013. The soundtrack would come out around that time as well, so that means we'll be hearing new Mastodon music this summer. How cool is that?
This won't be the band's first foray into animated features. The band makes a legendary appearance in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, which can be seen here.
