The Linda Lindas prove the kids are, in fact, alright. This all-girl punk rock group is going viral today thanks to a new video as part of the Los Angeles Public Library's AAPI Heritage Month celebration of "TEENtastic Tuesdays."
The LA library posted a video of the band performing at a local branch. It starts with the drummer speaking "A little before we went into lockdown, a boy in my class came up to me and said that his dad told him to stay away from Chinese people. After I told him that I was Chinese, he backed away from me. Eloise and I wrote this song based on that experience." And this is when the rock begins and the band performs "Racist, Sexist Boy."
As if the Bikini Kill shirts weren't a give away, these girls definitely bring the riot grrl energy and I am smiling from ear to ear. The band consists of Mila, 10, Eloise, 13, Lucia, 14, and Bela, 16. Tom Morello proclaimed on Twitter that this was the "song of the day" and we are hard-pressed to disagree.
You can see their full nine-song set below, which also features a cover of the Bikini Kill classic "Rebel Girl" and The Muff's "Big Mouth."
