TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN On NIGHTWISH's Touring Hiatus: "I Don't Know How Long The Break Will Be"

But there will be more new music.

Nightwish-28

Nightwish played their (so far) final show on June 17, 2023 at the Lemonsoft Stadion in Vaasa, Finland. The band has been on touring hiatus ever since and according to keyboardist and songwriter Tuomas Holopainen, it's not ending anytime soon.

Holopainen recently spoke to Metal Hammer saying Nightwish will not do any shows in support of their upcoming new record Yesterwynde, noting that "the reasons are personal, we're not going to go into it, but it was something that had to be done for this band to continue. There's no bad blood between the members, nothing like that. We just have to take a long breather.""

So how long is this touring hiatus going ot last? The bad news is Holopainen has no idea. The good news is that Nightwish recently signed a new deal with Nuclear Blast, so at least we'll be getting new music from the band! We just won't be seeing 'em on stage.

"Personally, I haven't really given it much thought. I don't know how long the break is going to be. We just signed a multi-album deal with Nuclear Blast, so that is evidence there are going to be more albums in future. Nightwish are definitely not going to stop, so everybody stop worrying. We just need a breather from touring."

Yesterwynde is out on September 20. If you haven't heard the debut single "Perfume Of The Timeless" yet, check it out in all its 8-plus minute glory below. It'll at least sate your appetite for the epic.
