Tool drummer Danny Carey recently confirmed bassist Justin Chancellor's statement that the new album would finally be out in 2018. We've known the band has been working on it and recording it for quite some time, at least as far back as October 2016 when members of Meshuggah said they heard some of the album.
Now Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello says he's heard the new album as well and has quite a few adjectives to describe it. Morello also says he's "the first outsider," which is either false or he means he's the first outsider to hear the new album in its entirety. He also adds it's instrumental right now, so I guess once Maynard James Keenan is all wrapped up with A Perfect Circle then he'll work on some vocals.
Had the honor of being the first outsider to hear new #TOOL music today!! Still just instrumentals but sounded epic, majestic, symphonic, brutal, beautiful, tribal, mysterious, deep, sexy and VERY Tool. Really great. So excited to hear the record when it's finished.
