The Doc Seeks To Immortalize The UK Doom Scene

The Doom Doc documented the UK Doom scene - now it's going to be available digitally and on DVD!

After a highly successful premier last year, The Doom Doc has become something of a legend in the scene. It features interviews with everyone from Conan to Bill Ward of Black Sabbath and Primitive Man. It's a penetrating look into the highs and lows of a community that  we all know and love.

The doc offers incisive conversations with major players in the scene like Kirk Windstein of Crowbar and also showcases some of the genres biggest fans. This is the sort of music documentary made for metalheads like us. Shot on a shoestring budget, the director, Connor Matheson talks about everything from DIY punk culture to mental health, and tackles tricky issues like drug use and gentrification. It's a documentary for its time and place that shows us there is something permanent and lasting about this music that so often feels nihilistic and bleak.

While the focus on the UK scene has meant that The Doom Doc hasn't made as big of a splash State side, the creators are excited to inform us that the film will finally be available both digitally and on DVD. These sorts of films are important for us to connect with each other and better understand how the scene has formed itself and where we might be going.
