Yes, it sucks in a big way that today is the last time we'll be posting about a new Dillinger Escape Plan album in a long while, possibly forever, while the band is still together. Dissociation comes out today and is the band's final album before it calls it quits. Obviously the band has stated numerous times that it wanted to end its career on its own terms, and on a solid record, and for that we all respect them.
Though there is one small glimmer of hope given by Ben Weinman in an interview with Independent, and it's that more Dillinger is coming eventually. Weinman says there was more material written than used on Dissociation, and when the double album plans were scrapped, these songs just fell by the wayside.
“…There is one more enticing piece of information that may ease the sting in the tail for those despondent over the band’s hiatus. For the first time, Dillinger wrote and recorded far more material than has ended up on the record and Weinman is adamant that these songs will see the light of day at some point. Plans to release all the material as a double album were scrapped early on in the interests of making a cohesive album rather than simply throwing everything the band had available in to the mix.”
So hey, new Dillinger Escape Plan coming… eventually.
