Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell died by suicide on May 18 of this year, though it still feels like it was yesterday. The band has remained mostly quiet on its own future and Cornell's passing, and now drummer Matt Cameron tells Billboard that Soundgarden plans to continue to make no official statement at this time.
"I don't think we're ready to say anything other than…Kim [Thayil] and Ben [Shepherd] and I are certainly aware of how much our fans are hurting, and we're certainly hurting right there along with them. But we're extremely private people, and we're all still processing our grief in our own way and on our own time. But we definitely are thinking of our fans and love them very much."
A few months back, it was reported that Ben Shepard told a fan that "he used to be in a band." I think it's pretty universally understood that grieving takes quite a massive toll on a person, and we wish Soundgarden all the best as we've always done.
