SOULFLY's Max Cavalera Contributing Music For ESPN's 2014 World Cup Coverage

It's a well known fact that Max Cavalera is a soccer nut, so I'm sure he's completely beside himself right now that he gets to pen the soundtrack for ESPN's coverage of the World Cup. It makes sense seeing as though the Cup is being held in his home country of Brazil (from June 12 to July 13).

According to a press release:

“Yesterday [December 4] legendary Soulfly frontman and guitarist Max Cavalera, went into the studio with producer John Gray (Soulfly Primitiveand Dark Ages, Ministry) to write and record the music for ESPN‘s World Cup 2014 coverage. Being of Brazilian roots, and with the love of soccer flowing through his veins, this is a dream come true forMax. Zyon Cavalera (drummer Soulfly, Lody Kong) will be slamming on the drums, and adding some Brazilian flavored percussion as well.”

Wow, sounds like ESPN ordered a heaping plate of metal on this one! Interesting that they're looking for heavier music as part of the overall soundtrack, but maybe it's just a sign of the times that heavier jams are more of an accepted thing? Or they know Cavalera is just capable of bringing the rock!
