Sign Language Interpreter Channels KILLSWITCH ENGAGE During Live Performance In Most Metal Way Possible

signlanguage

We are all about accessibility at live shows, everybody should be able to enjoy the gig, even deaf people. Just because they can't hear the music, doesn't mean they can't feel it. Major festivals have been stepping up in this department and enlisting sign language interpreters at these shows to make sure deaf folks know what's going on.

Last year, we spotlighted an amazing interpreter that absolutely nailed Lamb of God – and today we'd like to focus on this interpreter at Jacksonville's Welcome to Rockfest this weekend, during Killswitch Engage. In fact, we're not the only ones impressed. Killswitch's Jesse Leach posted about how moved he was to see her performance of his lyrics on his Instagram page, writing:

“This moves me, seeing my lyrics especially these particular lyrics signed…. I am honored and at the moment overwhelmed. I hope this message reaches as many people as it can. Those who suffer from a mental illness, those who know all to well the extremes of the mind, the helplessness and the empowerment that can accompany all of it. It’s chaos, it’s beautiful it’s gut wrenching. AGAIN honored to see this! SHE IS KILLING IT!!! Thank you to this woman for helping spread the message of the music.”

The woman has yet to be identified but the lyrics in question are:

“I’ve seen rock bottom and I’ve smashed my fists against it
Just keep telling yourself it will be alright
Who can raise you from the fall and save you? Only you
Who can take the pain away and change you? Only you

“Gather all your pain and suffering
Turn them into strength and weaponry
To overcome the enemy
That’s in you, that’s in you, that’s in you, that’s in you
Come face to face with a war that rages in you”

Killswitch Engage are wrapping up their tour with Parkway Drive and then finishing up their long-awaited new album.
