Senator John Cornyn and Senator Amy Klobuchar recently came together to introduce the Save Our Stages Act. The act aims to give financial relief to independent music and entertainment venues that have been unable to open due to the restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic. More specifically, the act would provide six months of financial support to help "keep venues afloat, pay employees and preserve a critical economic sector for communities across America."
Joining in on the effort to support the Save Our Stages Act is National Independent Venue Association (NIVA). NIVA has set up SaveOurStages.com, which gives you the ability to reach out to your Senators or Representatives and tell them why independent venues and promoters are important to you.
There's really not much effort required for anyone who wishes to send a letter either, as the letter already exists as a template on the Save Our Stages website. You just need to plug in your information and you're good to go! Visit the site here.
Let's hope this thing actually gets passed. Previously, NIVA has put their support behind the RESTART Act, which has yet to be passed.
