Swedish power metal band Sabaton is preparing to write their new album, according to front-man Joakim Broden.
In an interview with Czech Republic's Backstage TV, Broden said that the band is currently in the "planning phase" for the new album, and that they hope to start writing in the near future.
"We're always planning ahead," Broden said. "We're always thinking about what we want to do next. And right now, we're in the planning phase for the next album. I'm looking forward to having an easy summer, but then I'm looking forward to starting writing more music for the future. We don't have a release date yet. We don't work that hard on it, but it's gonna be good. Without any pressure, I'll drive over, and me and Chris [Rörland, guitar] will sit down, we'll have a few beers and collect all our ideas and write some music. It's a nice thing to do, actually."
Broden also mentioned that the band is not sure yet about the theme of the new album, but that they are "always looking for inspiration."
"We're always looking for new stories to tell," he added. "We're always looking for new things to write about. So, we'll see what happens."
The band's last album, The War to End All Wars, was released in 2022 and was a commercial success, reaching number one on the Swedish album chart and number eight on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. The album was also a critical success, with many critics praising its powerful and moving songs about World War I.
