For the second time since 2021, Iron Maiden has been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. But the real question is how they'll be represented in the hall if they get in… and will that representation include one of those big ass Eddie stage props.
In a interview with Audacy host Taryn Daly, president and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Greg Harris said he's down to have a giant Eddie in the hall. Harris also said he's happy that Iron Maiden is once again on the ballot, and hopes that Judas Priest is an indication that more metal will make it into the hall.
"We have a Pink Floyd wall with the inflatable, so heck yeah. We can put one of those babies in here. It would be exciting. It's fun to think thatā¦ you know, we talked about Warren Zevon [who is a] piano playing, songwriting guy, and then the triple guitar assault of Iron Maiden in the same class. It's really exciting and really fun now.
"Maiden was nominated once before, but we're hopeful that after the success that Judas Priest had last year that Maiden is inducted as well. What a greatā¦ we're thrilled that they're on the ballot."
It's interesting that Harris brings up Judas Priest's induction as an indicator, considering Priest got in through the Musical Excellence Award as opposed to the standard Performers Award. But hey ā metal being in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame by any means is a nice nod toward an important genre.
