RAMMSTEIN's RICHARD KRUSPE Thinks The Days Of Stadium Metal Bands Are Over

Kruspe doesn't think Ghost can do it.

Rammstein-Richard Kruspe

Stadium rock and metal bands are slowly but surely going to the wayside. Sure, you have the classics like Metallica and Guns N' Roses that don't need an opener, but modern bands being able to fill stadiums by themselves is pretty much unheard of. Rammstein guitarist Richard Kruspe thinks the days of rock and metal bands filling stadiums is pretty much over, as he reveals in an interview with Summa Inferno.

Kruspe began by saying that rock really isn't the rebellious music that it used be, and that hip-hop has taken over as the new wave of rebellion for the kids. The interviewer mentioned that Metallica and Rammstein were still around to fill those shows, to which Kruspe responded:

"Yes, but they are dinosaurs! Think about it, everyone in those bands is old people. We are old in comparison. Young people may also listen to rock, but they are more interested in other types of rock. The problem is that these gigantic gangs have no one to come after them. The time for bands that can fill stadiums is about to run out. What is the last band that can fill a stadium that you know?"

Kruspe then adds that maybe Muse is one of the last stadium bands, adding that Ghost isn't.

"Yes, but [Ghost] does not fill a stadium. I mean those giant bands. Every day they are less and it is certainly going to end."

Rammstein will release their new album before they kick off their 2022 stadium tour.
