POWER TRIP Is Announcing Something Tomorrow

…we're listening. We're all listening.

Update: It's a live album.

Original story: Power Trip is up to something and it's not clear what. All we know so far is that Power Trip just took to their Instagram stories about an hour ago to post their logo (filled with skulls) and the revelation that something is happening tomorrow, April 5. This story will be updated once that announcement comes through, but in the meantime… get stoked?

Power Trip has remained silent ever since the tragic and untimely passing of vocalist Riley Gale in August 2020. In a March 2021 interview, guitarist Blake Ibanez and drummer Chris Ulsh said they'd like to carry on with the band, but had no idea what that looked like in the wake of a tragedy.

"Losing Riley was the saddest thing that ever happened to me. But I'm so proud of everything we accomplished together," said Ulsh. "One of the coolest things from the start was that there was no ceiling to this band, and this Grammy nomination is a perfect example of that."

"We've never been through anything like this," added Ibanez later on. "But it's definitely brought us closer. You're together all the time, then in the blink of an eye, you know you'll never see each other again."

Then in a September 2022 interview, Ibanez confirmed in an interview with Daniel Dekay of Knotfest that new Power Trip was in the works. Ibanez confirmed that he and Ulsh were "just working on stuff and and at some point the stuff we're working on will be heard" before adding "There's… I guess you can call it a record. There's a bunch of stuff out there. That's really all I can say. I don't know. I can't really say too much."

"We've been working really hard on it. Me and [Chris], we have great chemistry and the same thing we've always done when we make records together. The same vibe is there. I'm really proud of the stuff we've written together. So I'm looking forward to that. I don't know when everything's gonna happen, but I'm looking forward to it."

As of 2020, Power Trip was Ibanez, Ulsh, guitarist Nick Stewart, and bassist Chris Whetzel. Ibanez has since started a new band called Fugitive, while Ulsh has been busy with Devil Master, Innumerable Forms, and Kinetic Orbital Strike.
