Porcupine Tree reunited in 2021 and put out their first record in 13 years named Closure/Continuation in 2022. Porcupine Tree has been touring on the record ever since, and you might wanna go see 'em if you get the chance.
According to Porcupine Tree frontman Steven Wilson in an interview at Hellfest, there probably won't be much more touring in the future, but there could be a new record.
"The simple answer is we don't know. And it's kind of reflected in the title of the album that we made last year. So this whole idea of closure-slash-continuation. We're kind of leaving our options open.
"We never officially said the band had stopped back in 2010; we just went off and did other things. Personally, I've never seen the need for that kind of dramatic gesture: 'It's done.' So, I think we leave the door open. I personally would love to think we will record again. Whether we tour again, I don't know, 'cause we're all getting a bit old for that — at least I feel that way anyway."
Keyboardist Richard Barbieri echoed Wilson's sentiment, and added that there will be a brand new live album coming sometime this year.
"That's right. It would be silly to say that we are never gonna make another album, because you don't know. We don't know what's gonna happen in two years' time, three years' time. We do have a live album that's coming out at the end of this year. And that sounds really good. So it's quite exciting."
