Nunslaughter's Jim Konya passed away recently due complications after suffering a stroke. It was a sudden death and extremely sad, given a lot of people really loved the music Konya made and Konya as a person in general. Now, in a ceremony scheduled to take place on November 19, Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter will present a key to the city to Konya.
This is cool on multiple levels-
- Mayoral duties mean you're meeting a million people per day. Remembering someone and caring about their family after they tragically pass on is a fantastic gesture.
- The guy is commemorating a member of a band called Nunslaughter. I don't think every city would be too keen on a name like that.
- It acknowledges that Konya was a big part of his community.
R.I.P. Jim Konya.
