Old Man's Child – the project headed up by now-former Dimmu Borgir guitarist and bassist Galder – has announced its first show since 2000 for 2025. Old Man's Child is slated to play Tons Of Rock in Oslo, Norway this upcoming June alongside bands like Emperor, Jinjer, and Powerwolf.
Galder quit Dimmu Borgir in August of this year after playing in the band for 24 years. Galder said atnthe time he was considering quitting for a while and is happy to resurrect Old Man's Child.
"Yesterday I played my last show with Dimmu Borgir," wrote Galder at the time. "After almost 25 years of making music and playing with Dimmu Borgir I have decided to leave the band. I have been thinking about this for years and as many of you have been pointing out – it's time for Old Man's Child to get on stage again and finalizing the new album. I wish the best for the other members of the band moving forward."
On the show, Tons Of Rock wrote (translated from Norwegian): "Old Man's Child returns to the stage and you first see them at Tons of Rock. We are thrilled to announce the long awaited return of Old Man's Child, the legendary Norwegian melodic black metal band, for their first live performance in over 15 years.
"This historic event marks a monumental occasion for metal fans worldwide as the band takes the stage to deliver an unforgettable performance. Old Man's Child, founded in 1993 by Galder, has long been a pillar of the black metal community. From 1996, Old Man's Child has had a dedicated global fan base, and the band has become a cred band to reckon with. Despite Galder's involvement as guitarist for Dimmu Borgir since 2001, he has continuously nursed Old Man's Child.
