NILE Taps HATE ETERNAL's Erik Rutan For New Album

Plus Karl Sanders will not be the only vocalist on the album.

Nile is currently working on a new album to be released at some point in 2018. The album will be Nile's first since 1998's Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka without guitarist Dallas Toler-Wade, and its first with guitarist Brian Kingland of Enthean and bassist Brad Parris of Red Herring.

Now in a new interview with Metal Wani, frontman and guitarist Karl Sanders says the band will likely be using famed death metal producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel, etc.). The only time Nile has worked with Rutan previously was recording drums for 2009's Those Whom the Gods Detest.

"I think this next record we're gonna be using Erik Rutan, so it'll be something new for us. I don't know exactly how that'll work out, but I think it's time for a change."

Sanders also says Kingsland is a part of the songwriting team for the upcoming Nile album, and will feature vocals from himself, Kingsland, and Parris.

"We've already been writing songs for the new record, and I think Brian has elevated the level of composition. He has a lot of influences; besides just metal, he's got a lot of classical influences. He and I share a love for The Beatles. The Beatles were incredible songwriters. Things like taking a chord that's not necessarily in the key, but you use it and you use it right, it becomes beautiful. That's something that Brian is really in-depth at. I'm really excited about the future of this band."

"Brian is a very talented vocalist. Right now, we have more of the triple vocal attack [which is something] that had kind of fallen off in recent years. But now we're doing that, where all three of us are sharing. It's more equally balanced. I find it more interesting. I'm really happy about that too."

Expect a possibly adventurous Nile album in 2018, which is actually pretty exciting!
