Napalm Death is about to be 16 albums deep into their career. Like every record they've done prior, Napalm Death has switched things up a bit stylistically. Vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway tells Kerrang! the new Napalm Death record Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism heads a little more in the direction of bands like Swans and My Bloody Valentine.

"I’ve definitely done some stuff on this album vocally that I’ve never done to this degree before. We’re heading into the noise-rock territory, loosely. Swans, My Bloody Valentine, The Young Gods – we’re heading more down that path. But there’s some more traditional, fast, chaotic stuff as well. Again, as long as it’s aggressive, confrontational, abrasive, even when it’s less full-pelt, it’s always Napalm Death."

Honestly, that sounds awesome. Greenway is a talented vocalist and he's certainly got an equally talented band to back him up. And really, how many albums can you make in one style before it gets a little boring?

Napalm Death will release Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism on September 18. A single from the album is expected out on July 24. Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism will not feature Napalm Death's most recent single, "Logic Ravaged by Brute Force."
