Dead Cross initially consisted of ex-Slayer Dave Lombardo on drums, Retox guitarist Mike Crain, and The Locust vocalist Gabe Serbian and bassist Justin Pearson. Serbian stepped down from the band, and Dead Cross immediately recruited an "established frontman" for studio time for its debut album.
I was expecting a pretty big name considering Dead Cross has Lombardo, but holy shit you guys they got Mike Patton (Faith No More, Tomahawk, ex-Mr. Bungle, etc.). Let's just be real here for a minute and make the obvious statement – Mike Patton can do anything vocally. I have no idea what to expect in terms of what he'll bring to Dead Cross, but I am beyond stoked. The album will be produced by Ross Robinson, who just wrapped up work on Suicide Silence's next album.
It's probably worth mentioning that Lombardo and Patton have worked together in Fantômas in the past, so it's not like this is some out of the blue thing.
Check out Dead Cross' first single here, though with Serbian on vocals. Maybe it'll be something like this? Either way, the album is expected to be out in 2017 via Patton's Ipecac Recordings.
